Our programs are affordable and we offer flexible payment plans, scholarships and fundraising options.
Our programs allow players and families to have a life and enjoy life.
Our programs are challenging & competitive but also fun & rewarding.

ABOUT THE OWNER

Coach Bishop is proud native of Maine.
She was born and raised in Brunswick Maine.

Bishop grew up with a large family - all athletes. Her father was a soccer coach and all her siblings played sports year round.

Bishop was a 4 - Varsity sport athlete at Brunswick. She played field hockey, basketball, indoor track and outdoor track.
She also participated in the USAFH Futures Program for 3 years and competed in the USAFH Track and Field Junior Olympics for High Jump and 4x100.

Graduating from Brunswick in 2000 - she then attended Keene State College. She graduated from KSC in 2005 with a BS in Phsyical Education / Teacher Certification.

After graduating from KSC - she relocated to Middletown, CT.
While living there she was hired as the Assistant Coach at Mercy High School. After 3 years - she became the Head Coach and remained there until she moved home in January of 2012.
During her time in CT - she also coached Track & Field at Middletown High School and was a lead coordinating coach for NSR - an organization specializing in Recruitment and Recruitment Videos.

Upon moving home - her goal was to offer more off season opportunities.
For 3 months she brainstormed and networked. By March of 2012 - MAINE STYX Field Hockey was established.

With the help of many talented coaches and committed parents and hardworking athletes - STYX is now the largest club in Maine under the longest running ownership.
HOW MAINE STYX Field Hockey STARTED

In 2012 - I made the move back home to Maine! It was time!

I moved home In January 2012 and by March - our first Indoor League was born. We launche the HSIL - The High School Indoor League with 12 players.

That same group wanted to compete. So we entered 3 tournaments that year and went nearly undefeated.

Bishop spent any and all her time building and networking. Attending games and practices to introduce herself and the club. Offering clinics and workshops at no cost. Building relationships with coaches, parents, players and communities.

Come 2013 - we had 56 players in the HSIL and up to 76 players by 2014. In 2022 - we have as many as 225 players that participate in just the HSIL alone.
In 2016 - we launched our first MSIL - the Middle School Indoor League and our Travel Program grew to 6 teams.

In 2017 - we relocated to a larger facility and we launched our LYTTLE STYX Program - the Youth Indoor League.

In 2022 we celebrated our 10 year anniversary!
We remain to be the largest field hockey club in the State of Maine, we offer the largest age range of programming, we run the longest season, we offer the most programming options and we are undeniably the least expensive option in the region.

Our staff are incredible, passionate people who strongly believe in the STYX Motto, love this sport, love all sports, love coaching and love these athletes.
Sports, field hockey in particular, impacted us all and we want to give back and help the generation succeed.
