My name is Danielle Bishop. I was born and raised in Brunswick, Maine. I graduated from BHS in '00. While there I earned 14 Varsity Letters (field hockey, basketball, indoor track & outdoor track). I continued my education at Keene State College where I graduated in "05 with a BS in Physical Education.
I moved to CT and began coaching at Mercy High School in Middletown, CT in 2005. I ran summer camps, strengthening & conditioning sessions, Future's trials, and much more. I worked with College Showcases of America, www.collegeshowcasesamerica.com, and The National Scouting Report (NSR), www.nsr-inc.com, running skills & drills for college bound players. While at Mercy, I had numerous players continue to play at the D1, D2 & D3 college levels.
In 2012, I moved home to Maine, with every intention of continuing my coaching career. I knew I wanted to coach more than 3 months a year...... However, per MPA rules, coaches are not allowed to work with their players for a majority of the year. So I was unable to coach at the high school level and run the post season/off season programs I was used to. So, I made the decision to start MAINE STYX and offer year round opportunities to players of all ages at a reasonable cost.
Growing up, my parents were very supportive of me and my siblings and our passion of sports. My sister Laura coaches Lax for USM & Mainiax. Brad coaches Lax for Souhegan HS, Keene State College and Sabers Lax Club. We have been lucky to have amazing people that we called "coach" and they inspired us to follow this path. I am so excited to be home and even more excited to work with these athletes. I love this sport! I have so many ideas and with the help of coaches, athletic directors, parents and players, these athletes could be a part of some amazing experiences. I hope to be that "coach" that these athletes look back on and they consider to be their inspiration.
